Pete Sessions Congratulates Bishop Lynch High School Student on Leadership and Growth Program Completion

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32) today announced that one student from Bishop Lynch High School has recently completed successful participation in the 2017 Pete Sessions Leadership and Growth Program (PSLGP).

Congressman Sessions, who represents the Thirty-Second Congressional District, hosts the Leadership and Growth Program in Washington, DC every summer during the months of June and July. Students at the high school level participate and are given the opportunity to get an inside look into how our government works.

“My summer leadership program provides North Texas students with the opportunity to expand their horizons and prepares them to consider, challenge and thoughtfully articulate the issues currently facing our nation,” Sessions said. “PSLGP participants see Washington firsthand by observing House Committee hearings, attending program forums with government officials and Washington leaders, and touring various historical sites, memorials, and monuments around the district.”

Stone Thornhill was a participant in the second session (June 18-24).

During his week in Washington, Stone visited a number of historical sites including educational tours of the National Portrait Gallery, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court. In addition, each program has the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities, from visiting the Arlington National Cemetery and the Holocaust Museum to researching and discussing policy issues. He was also able to interact with other leaders in Washington, including Bill Flores (R-TX-17), Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA-3) and Mike Conaway (R-TX-11).

“Each year I am delighted to welcome students from Allen High School to our nation’s capital,” concluded Sessions. “Stone is one of the young leaders who will undoubtedly be one of the future pillars of our communities and I look forward to seeing him grow and achieve his goals.”

Students who are interested in participating in the Pete Sessions Leadership and Growth Program may contact the Congressman’s Washington, DC office at 202.225.2231 or email his Program Manager Jacob Durst at Jacob.Durst@mail.house.gov.
