Bishop Lynch High School’s Mu Alpha Theta Recognizes 56 Math Contest Winners During First Semester

The Bishop Lynch High School chapter of Mu Alpha Theta (National High School and Community College Mathematics Honor Society) recognized 56 winners of the first semester’s math contests. The Bishop Lynch Chapter of MAΘ, moderated by Mr. Jeff Morrow, seeks to promote mathematical scholarship, while instilling interest in and enjoyment of mathematics among students, by offering students the opportunity to regularly test their mathematical aptitudes and develop their mathematical skills through contests with other students locally, regionally and nationally. Congratulations to these outstanding students!

Math Contest Winners 2015 – 2016

ASMA Senior Division Math Contest Results – Round 1 – October 6, 2015
Michael Gao took 1st Place with a perfect score. Audrey Paetzel, Jacob Villarreal and Zach Zipper tied for 2nd Place. Alex Cavasso, Katelyn Curtis, Lani DuFresne, Francesca Farlow and Sean O’Hare tied for 3rd Place.

Texas Math League Contest Results – Round 1 – October 8, 2015
Michael Gao took 1st Place. Mason Coleman-Lopez, Danielle DuFresne, Kristine Ehlinger, Blake Miller, Claire Sooter, Will Seidel and Jacob Villarreal all tied for 2nd Place.

National Catholic League Advanced Math Contest Results – Round 1 – November 3, 2015
The winners were Shannon Fu, Michael Gao and An Le, who tied for 1st Place, each missing only one problem.

Texas Math League Contest Results – Round 2 – November 5, 2015
The winners were Alex Cavasso, Francesca Farlow and Matthew Newman, who tied for 1st Place. Lani DuFresne, Kristine Ehlinger, Elliot Maceda, Rex Rychlik and Claire Sooter, who tied for 4th Place.

ASA Senior Division Math Contest Results – Round 2 – November 10, 2015
Lani DuFresne and Michael Gao tied for 1st Place, each with a perfect score. Franny Farlow, Audrey Paetzel, Will Seidel and Zach Zipper tied for 3rd Place. Alex Cavasso, Shannon Fu, An Le, Elliot Maceda, Sarah Miller, Grace Murphy, Abi Sivatharman and Jacob Villarreal tied for 7th Place.

Mu Alpha Theta Log 1 Math Contest- Round 1 – November 17, 2015
The 1st Place winners at the Calculus Level were An Le in Functions and Lani DuFresne in Geometry.  The 1st Place winners at the Pre-Calculus level were Maggie O’Connor in Functions and Reese Reynolds in Geometry. The 1st Place winners at the Algebra II level were Anna Schrader in Functions and Katie Shore and Mabry Webb, who tied in Geometry.

Continental Math League Calculus Contest – Round 1 Results – November 19, 2015
Elliot Maceda took 1st Place with a perfect score, and Shannon Fu placed 2nd. There was a three-way tie for 3rd Place, shared by An Le, Brian Nguyen and Zach Zipper. Mars Kalzia and Rex Rychlik tied for 6th Place.

National Catholic League Advanced Math Contest Results – Round 2 – December 1, 2015
The winners were An Le, who placed first, missing only one problem, and Kristine Ehlinger and Shannon Fu, who tied for second and missed only two problems.
